This garage addition brought some unique challenges to the design. With the tri-level structure of the existing home and the current location of the windows, we looked at several options before picking this final design. With the homeowner’s approval and love of the design, it was time to start construction.
The first step was the excavation of the foundation. A big part of the excavation was relocating the main power line that was buried directly through the back have of the foundation. With the help of the West River Electrical association, the line was moved and we excavated the footers. To make this addition correct we did a full frost wall foundation to match the existing house. Other contractors suggested a monolithic foundation, but we knew better.
The concrete subcontractor worked fast! Before we knew it there was a complete foundation and floor. Framing started immediately once the concrete was cured and we were off to the races. Check out a live walkthrough of the project at this stage on our Facebook page.
Framing happened fast too. So fast, that I forgot to take pictures of the process. After trusses were set I did manage to do another live update. You can find that video as well on our Facebook page.
Currently, still under construction, we will be posting live update videos and updating this page as progress continues. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and check back here for more updates.
